More than 4,000 books were sold during the 14th Annual Concordia Used Book Fair held last week in the J.W. McConnell Building Atrium, where an endless stream of book lovers helped raise $9,426.

With this latest fundraiser, the Used Book Fair has raised $104,000 since its inception 14 years ago.

This year’s beneficiaries were the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy's Emergency and Food Fund, as well as the Used Book Fair Scholarship that’s awarded to a student with an outstanding annual grade point average.

“The event was made possible thanks to Concordia Distribution Services, the Bookstore, the International Students' Office, Security, Conference Services, the Office of the Vice-President, Services and last but not least, all my wonderful hard working volunteers,” says Susan Hawke, chief organizer of the Concordia Used Book Fair since 2001 and a librarian at Concordia’s Career Resource Centre at Counselling and Development.

There will be more about the Used Book Fair, and Susan Hawke, in the upcoming issue of the Concordia Journal.
