Students can be the best inspiration to face life’s adversities. Every day, at the Access Centre for Students with Disabilities, we meet Concordians with visible and invisible disabilities who persevere and reach their academic dreams.

When we speak of accessibility and successful academic integration, we are not only talking about providing the necessary accommodations and tools to compensate for a person’s disability.

We respond in a more holistic way to the global needs of students whose full participation has traditionally been limited in society, not only because of physical access but—perhaps, more importantly—by the way in which a person with a disability is perceived by the society at large.

Concordia was among Canada’s pioneering universities to level the playing field by offering students with disabilities the necessary academic accommodations.
