Nicholas Henderson, an undergraduate at Concordia's John Molson School of Business (JMSB), recently participated in the annual “Shave-to-Save” campaign.

Surrounded by JMSB students, faculty, staff, and members of the Virgin Radio and La Coupe team, Henderson bravely sat still as he prepared to have his head shaved before supportive onlookers.

He asked his parents to shave off the first few locks before the professional stylist slowly shaved away the remaining hair. Henderson plans to raise $2,000 and direct his gift to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

Asked why he took part in the annual fundraiser, he said: “I decided to do Shave-to-Save this year because I wanted to honor my maternal grand-mother, who passed away from Breast Cancer on December 14th, 1982.

"I always wanted to do something for my grand-mother and started by getting a tattoo of a necklace given by my mother. This necklace belonged to her mother. My grand-mother and I share the same Zodiac sign, Cancer, and I got it placed on my left ribs, near the heart, in honour of her. I chose to do this because the pain I would suffer would be nothing compared to the pain that she went through during treatments and her final battle.

"Today, I am doing this for her. This is in honour of her life; and I hope that the money raised will help in the fight against this disease”.
