Concordian awarded for design expertise
Mouna Andraos, a part-time faculty member of the Concordia Department of Design and Computation Arts, is co-recipient of the Phyllis Lambert Design Montreal Grant from Building Montreal.
The Phyllis Lambert Design Montreal Grant was created in honour of its namesake, who is founding director of the Canadian Centre for Architecture.
The annual grant is awarded by the city of Montreal to distinguish the outstanding work of designers with professional experience of 10 years or less.
The $10,000 grant will enable Andraos and co-recipient Melissa Mongiat to make a month-long research and creation trip at the DMY International Design Festival Berlin.
As part of their visit, Andraos and Mongiat wish to create a series of urban object prototypes that encourage exchange and communication between people on the street to reclaim possession of their space.
As Creative Director with the Montréal firm Bluesponge, Andraos has earned many awards, including a Best of Show at SXSW and a Cyberlion at Cannes. Under the Electronic Crafts label, she also creates electronic objects in limited series that take an entertaining, participative and sustainable approach to product development.
