Want to study in Uganda?

For the first time the Concordia Volunteer Abroad Program (CVAP) is inviting students to develop research projects during the summer of 2011 in collaboration with Gulu University’s Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies and Concordia’s Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling. 

An information session on December 3 will provide details on the pilot project for the summer of 2011.

CVAP has annually offered 40 Concordia students the opportunity to participate in development projects with community partners in Uganda. Selected students gain first-hand experience in community-led development, cross-cultural understanding, and international relations.
 
This year, 20 students will be invited to assess potential areas for research projects that reflect Gulu University’s commitment to address the issues faced by post-conflict societies and to research and implement peace processes in the wake of the civil war in Northern Uganda.

Those selected to participate will have food, lodging and transportation within Uganda paid for by CVAP. Some financial support for research will also be made available. Participants will need to cover their own flight, vaccinations, insurance and some related costs, and will be asked to help with fundraising activities for the project.

Those interested are invited to an information session at the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling in room LB 1042 of the J. W. McConnell Building (Library Building) at 4 p.m. on December 3.
