Portugal’s University of Porto Business School has taken the 30th John Molson MBA International Case Competition, held January 3 to 8 at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal.

The University of Porto wins the Concordia Cup and a cheque for $10,000.

Second place went to Queen’s University from Kingston, Ontario, and the University of Kaiserslautern from Germany captured third.

The JMSB team put in a strong showing, making it to the semifinals among the top nine teams of 36 competing.

This year, 43 schools from around the world applied to compete – the highest number of applicants in the competition’s history. Organizers estimate the total number of participants to be roughly 250.

The event welcomed first-time teams from Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, and Paris School of Business in France.
