Concordia students challenged to go green

Two major Canadian banks are holding environmental competitions for post-secondary students at universities and colleges across the country.
 
TD bank’s Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) Go Green Challenge dares students to tackle on-campus sustainability issues and to submit their ideas online in a short video.

The winning team wins $20,000, a paid summer internship for each team member and a $100,000 sustainability grant for their school. The second place team will win $15,000 and $15,000 to support tree planting at their school. The third place team will win $10,000 and $10,000 to support tree planting at their school.

The submission deadline is January 21. Selection of the prize-winning entries will be made in Toronto in March 2011. Full rules are available on the TD FEF site. 

Scotiabank and Green Living Enterprises are giving away the Scotiabank EcoLiving Awards to post-secondary students for the best innovative concept or prototype aimed at energy conservation. The winning student takes home the award worth $10,000, sees his or her work publicized in national media and will be honoured at a gala awards ceremony in Toronto on June 2, 2011.
