The university as student canvas

Starting with a black and white map of Concordia's Sir George Williams campus, Studio Arts students decided to inject colour, performance and interactivity into the campus. The result is FLEET, a multi-site-specific work.

For three hours on February 2, starting at 6 p.m., students will perform, pamphlet and generally interact with “suspecting and unsuspecting passers-by,” according to the course website.

Students in Integrated Studio in Contemporary Art Practices (ARTX 280) are exposed to a range of contemporary art concepts and encouraged to explore time, place and space within their practice. Building on a growing awareness of the blurred lines between different disciplines or styles of art, students develop a range of projects. This term the course is taught by Donna Akrey.

FLEET is part of a series of lectures and activities organized by the Fine Arts Student Alliance on the theme of space.

The event will end at 9 p.m.with a vernissage at the FOFA Atrium, Room EV-1.715, in the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (1515 St. Catherine St. W).
