One of two teams Concordia entered in this year’s Ottawa Science Olympiad took second place. The event was held at the University of Ottawa from January 20 to 22.

The Ottawa Science Olympiad is an annual, three-day gathering that sees 150 students compete in events such as a scavenger hunt at the newly-renovated Canadian Museum of Nature and the construction of a Rube Goldberg machine, a complex device that performs a simple task in indirect, convoluted ways.

Team ConU1 placed second overall, while Team ConU2 placed eighth. ConU1 was also recognized as the most spirited team at the event, earning extra points for being the first team to complete the bingo icebreaker sheet.

The host team walked away with the win and McGill placed third.
