Trio of Grafikas for Ellen Art Gallery
Three publications from Concordia’s Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery have won Grafika awards.
Organized by publisher Infopresse and the Société des designers graphiques du Québec, Grafika awards are granted annually to the best in graphic design across the province. The Ellen Gallery was distinguished in three categories:
- Documentary Protocols 1967–1975, designed by Feed (Raphaël Daudelin, Anouk Pennel and Karine Cossette), in the books category;
- Magnetic Norths, designed by 1218 A (Laurie Castilloux-Bouchard, Emmelyne Pornillos), in the cultural brochure category;
- Nelson Henricks: Time Will Have Passed, designed by 1218 A (Laurie Castilloux-Bouchard, Emmelyne Pornillos), in the exhibition catalogue category.
“Distinctions such as Grafika awards help create public awareness of the important publishing work conducted at the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery and its contribution to the field of graphic design,” says gallery director Michèle Thériault.
The Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery is located in the J. W. McConnell Library Building (1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.). A contemporary art centre, it features exhibitions, discussions, publications, films and performances that investigate issues in contemporary artmaking and curating.
