On display: artworks of intrigue and skill
The talents of students graduating from Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts (FOFA) will be on display at three university galleries from June 13 to 30.
This annual exhibition, a juried show, provides students with an opportunity to present their work in a public venue.
Now in its ninth year, the exhibition demonstrates a cross-section of the many disciplines and research activities of students at the graduate and undergraduate levels in the visual, performing, design, cinematic and electronic arts.
FOFA Gallery director jake moore explains that this year’s exhibition represents the continued vitality of the students to produce skillful, intriguing and fascinating artworks.
“This year’s crop of student works examines social commentary, observation, material exploration, beauty, and the analyses of handling — that is, in part, the way we learn by making,” she says.
“With the presented works coming from such a broad spectrum of media and content, the Graduating Students Exhibition provides an excellent introduction opportunity — both for the emerging artists, as well as for the audience — to experience a sort of primer in contemporary practices. I highly recommend a visit to all three spaces to experience a small segment of what art looks like now at Concordia.”

An electroacoustic music presentation by Albertsson and a dance performance by Kati Bélanger will also be featured at the vernissage on June 22 (6 to 8 p.m. at the VAV Gallery).
