Concordia’s Slice of Campus Life photo contest is entering its second week, and the organizers have begun posting submissions in the online gallery. But don’t worry; there is still plenty of time to send in your most dynamic and creative picture.

The judges’ panel includes distinguished alumnus Adad Hannah, Dick and Gretchen Evans Prize for Photography winner Aydin Matlabi, alumna and photographer Linda Rutenberg and Jessica Auer, a documentary-style landscape photographer who teaches in Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts.

Student journalist David Adelman spoke to some of the judges and asked them to share some tips on what makes a great photo:

The competition is open to Concordia students, faculty and staff. Contestants are limited to one entry, which must be submitted before October 1.

Check out some of the early entries, including an eerie black and white shot of Loyola Campus by student Mingyang Sun and a colourful image of frosh week revelry by Gregori Ragusich. Don’t forget to leave your comments.

The winners will be announced on or around October 11. The judges will assess the entries based on the photographer’s creativity, how well the photo showcases life on the Concordia campus, and how well it holds the viewer’s attention.

The winner will receive a grand prize of $1,000, and two runners-up will each receive $500.
