MP visits Concordia
Member of Parliament Isabelle Morin toured the Loyola Campus in early September to better understand the important role Concordia plays in her riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce-Lachine (NDG-Lachine). Meeting with local organizations is an essential part of an MP’s work, especially at the beginning of a mandate. Concordia officials were pleased to develop a relationship with the newly minted MP.
“An important part of our government relations strategy is to establish strong relationships and open communication with our elected officials,” says Russell Copeman, Associate Vice-President, External Relations. “Since Concordia is a major player in the NDG-Lachine riding, we were glad to discuss some of the university’s recent accomplishments, our vision for the future, and our community engagement initiatives in NDG.”
Morin was particularly interested in green initiatives and welcomed the opportunity to tour the Loyola City Farm School, as well as two of the university’s newest facilities, the PERFORM Centre and the Centre for Structural and Functional Genomics.
“This visit gave us the opportunity to present the MP with an overview of Concordia, and specifically, how we are contributing to the NDG area in a number of ways,” adds Copeman.
