Concordia sponsors literary award
Concordia University is one of two new sponsors of the annual literary awards, organized by the Quebec Writers’ Federation (QWF). Concordia University is sponsoring the Concordia University First Book Prize. Richard Pound is sponsoring a second award, the A.M. Klein Prize for Poetry in memory of his brother Robert.
“We’re truly honoured to have received multi-year commitments from these sponsors,” says Lori Schubert, executive director of the QWF. “The federation is proud to have its first book prize sponsored by Concordia University, which offers the only BA and MA English-language creative writing programs in Quebec. It’s a welcome endorsement of the work we do.”
Concordia University and Richard Pound now join the prestigious list of the QWF Literary Award’s other valuable sponsors: The Cole Foundation (Cole Foundation Prize for Translation), Paragraphe Bookstore (Paragraphe Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction), Babar Books (QWF Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature) and Champlain, Dawson, Heritage, John Abbott, and Vanier Colleges (Mavis Gallant Prize for Non-Fiction).
The QWF Literary Awards annually honours excellence in English writing published by Quebec authors in the past year. With a combined value of $12,000, the six awards are announced at a special gala ceremony held each November.
