Looking for justice?
The Study in Action conference is currently seeking English and French submissions from undergraduate students in Montreal and beyond.
Study in Action is a grassroots research and arts conference on social and environmental justice designed to link students with community activism. The conference is forum where students can present their work, develop greater knowledge of social and environmental justice issues, and build ties with community organizations. Study in Action is a project of QPIRG Concordia and QPIRG McGill.
This year’s conference will take place from March 2 to 4, 2012, on Concordia's Sir George Williams Campus.
Students: Send us your conference proposals!
Submissions may take diverse formats on a variety of topics that are in the public interest. For a list of topic ideas, please visit the website or Facebook page.
Please send all submissions by January 12, 2012, to studyinaction@qpirgconcordia.org.
Submission Guidelines
Only a proposal and a brief summary need be submitted by the deadline, not completed projects. If the work is already completed, it may be included as well.
The 250-word summary should explain how the submission relates to Study In Action’s mandate of social and environmental justice. Study In Action not only crosses disciplinary lines, but also transcends the borders between academic and popular knowledge. The Study in Action mandate may be interpreted innovatively.
The submission may take the form of:
a) A 15-20 minute presentation, essay or research findings on a panel
b) An hour-long group workshop
c) A work of art to be exhibited as part of the conference
Submissions from undergraduates at universities elsewhere are equally invited.
