Accolades for the week of February 20
Saul Carliner has been on a roll. He contributed to and oversaw the production of a book recently listed by CBC as a must-read business book. The same tome, called Competencies for Training and Development Professionals, made the Globe and Mail's best-seller list.
It is a manual for certifying training and development professionals, as well as classroom instructors. Produced by the Canadian Society for Training and Development, the hands-on work was performed by a pair of colleagues in Toronto. Carliner chairs the Certification Steering Committee for the society.
Not only has the book become a best-seller, but the number of people seeking certification has grown 33 per cent in the last year.
From far away in snowy Moscow where it is -30?C, History Professor Elena Razlogova has good news to report. She published her book titled The Listener’s Voice: Early Radio and the American Public (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2011).
The book was actually published last October, but History Chair Norman Ingram explains Razlogova is currently on sabbatical in Moscow and it took a while for the news to travel around the globe.
Congratulations, Elena, and enjoy the rest of the time in the archives in Moscow!
