The Concordia Student Union will hold a sleep-in event in the atrium of the J.W. McConnell Library Building (LB) next week as part of its campaign to protest the upcoming increases in tuition fees. Exceptionally, the university has granted special permission for the event to occur overnight.

As outlined in the university’s Code of Rights and Responsibilities, members of the community are free to engage in peaceful and orderly protests that do not disrupt the functions of the university, impede the movement of people, or prevent regular business operations.

The event begins Monday, February 27 and will end at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2. There will be one designated area in the atrium for students to hold their event. Only Concordia students, who have a valid and current identification card, will be permitted to sleep in the LB atrium overnight.

While security agents will be present, they will be there to be helpful. The university will not intervene unless the provisions of the Code of Rights and Responsibilities or the Security Policy are breached.
