Ranked third in Canada
The MBA program in the John Molson School of Business (JMSB) has been ranked third in Canada, according to the ninth annual Knight Schools Survey, published by Corporate Knights Magazine.
“We are excited about this news. JMSB is committed to making sustainable practices and social responsibility synonymous with good business practices,” says JMSB Dean Steve Harvey.
Modelled after the Aspen Institute’s Beyond Grey Pinstripes Survey, the Knight Schools Survey evaluates how sustainability is integrated into the Canadian business education experience. Jeremy Runnalls, managing editor of Corporate Knights Magazine said JMSB’s place in the standings is based on the fact that students can specialize in various categories, including corporate governance and business ethics; business sustainability and environmental management; and community development.
Student-led initiatives are one of the many strengths of John Molson’s MBA program. Concordia students are invited to take the MBA Oath, which asks graduates to commit towards the responsible and ethical creation of value.
In addition, the David O’Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise (DOCSE), the MBA Community Service Initiative, and the John Molson Sustainable Business Group all have internship and consulting programs that assist communities locally, nationally and internationally.
This November will see the first cohort of graduates from the Sustainable Investment Professional Certificate (SIPC), part of the DOCSE. This certificate is available to all professionals in the finance, investment and corporate world, and is designed to take full advantage of new professional opportunities through a rigorous training curriculum in the field of business sustainability and sustainable investing.
“We have the responsibility to ensure that the changes we implement today in how we do business all works towards a greener, more sustainable future,” says Harvey.
