On December 23, Anna-Maria Carlevaris passed peacefully with family by her side.

Anna spent many years at Concordia University in many capacities. She received her MA in 1992 and a PhD in 2004, both in art history. She was the curatorial assistant at the Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery in the early-to-mid 90s and was also a lecturer in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia. In 2008, she was recognized for 20 years of employment at Concordia.

Carlevaris wrote numerous articles for art magazines, contributed to various art publications and art exhibition catalogues, and curated numerous art exhibitions.

She touched the hearts and souls of all who came to know her, according to the obituary in the Montreal Gazette. “I remember her fondly from my time at Concordia in the early 90s,” writes Maria Parrella-ilaria in the online guest book that appears with the obituary. “She was a dear spirit, generous and loving and always so very kind.”

Perla Muyal, retention and student affairs counsellor in the Faculty of Fine Arts, wrote, “My condolences to all members of Anna's family. She spoke of you often with stories of love and laughter. Although we had not seen each other in recent years, we kept tabs through a mutual friend because we did truly care about each other’s well-being. It is with sadness that I learnt of her illness and death. Anna was a beautiful soul!”
