Rebelle dominates Jutras Awards

Eight new awards for alumni Kim Nguyen, Pierre Even and Richard Comeau

The Jutra Awards ceremony, held March 17, was dominated by the film War Witch, known as Rebelle in French. The team behind the Oscar-nominated film has been enjoying a bumper season at film festivals around the world.

Alumnus Kim Nguyen, BFA (Film Production) 97, seen above, is the director of the film that has already won 10 Canadian Screen Awards, Best Narrative Film prize at the Tribeca Film Festival, and an Oscar nomination. Alumnus Pierre Even, GrDip (Communication Studies) 90, produced the 90-minute drama. He and Nguyen worked alongside Nicolas Bolduc attendee (Film Production) 94 who was the cinematographer for the feature, and Richard Comeau, BFA (Film Production) 87, who was its editor.

 

 

The film won eight additional awards last night:

•   Best director
•   Best film
•   Best actress
•   Best supporting actor
•   Best sound
•   Best screenplay
•   Best cinematography
•   Best editing
