Rubbing elbows with potential employers
Students at Concordia’s John Molson School of Business (JMSB) met with representatives from Montreal’s business community at the Employer Recognition and Networking Cocktail on May 2.
The annual event is organized by JMSB’s Career Management Services (CMS), which provides career resources to current business students and JMSB alumni to connect them with potential employers.
Students mingled with recruiters from more than 30 companies from a variety of industries, including banking, management consulting, capital markets, human resources management, marketing, pharmaceutical and IT.
The list of firms in attendance included BMO Capital Markets, Ernst & Young, Target Canada, Air Canada, Bell Canada, David’s Tea, PepsiCo and OSTC (a global trading company).
"This event is an opportunity for us to express our appreciation for the unwavering support of our corporate partners,” explains CMS Director Mai-Gee Hum. “This support is demonstrated through on-campus recruitment, participation at career events and actual job offers to JMSB students and alumni.”
“Despite the economic instability of recent years, industry partners have continued to support JMSB by offering employment opportunities to its students,” says Hum. “Last year, nearly 77 per cent of JMSB graduate students and 72 per cent of undergraduate students were gainfully employed three months after graduation.”
Speaking at the event, JMSB Dean Steve Harvey praised the relationship-building efforts of CMS and expressed his appreciation for the support of the university’s partners in the business community. “Our students are finding employment soon after graduation. This is in large part due to the remarkable work that is being done by our CMS team and ending with our corporate partners.”
