Concordia student productions play a starring role in educational station Canal Savoir’s newly released summer schedule.

Communication Studies: Stories by Students is a show made up of two half-hour episodes produced last year by students in the third-year video class taught by Rae Staseson, an associate professor and chair of the Department of Communication Studies. The episode titled “Tell Me a Story” airs on Monday, July 15, at 9 a.m., and on several other dates in July and September. The second episode, a series of self-portraits titled “My Story,” is also scheduled for July and September; its initial air date is Monday, July 22, at 9 a.m.

Students in the Department of Journalism produced Concordia Broadcast Journalism, three half-hour episodes for Canal Savoir. Two of the episodes, from the Advanced Television Workshop in the department’s Diploma Program, follow the format of a local news show. The third, produced by undergraduate students in Advanced Television Journalism, consists of in-depth feature stories. The shows air on July 29 at 9 a.m. and several other dates in August.

Canal Savoir is also broadcasting a show titled The Mel Hoppehneim School of Cinema Presents…, which features four documentary and experimental episodes by Concordia film students; it launches on Monday, August 19, at 9 a.m.

The fifth season of Canal Savoir’s magazine show Campus, about Quebec’s universities and their research production, also contains several reports on Concordia’s students and faculty. Canal Savoir will continue to broadcast Campus regularly throughout the summer.

For full broadcast schedules, consult the individual show pages on the Canal Savoir website. With the exception of The Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema Presents…, the Canal Savoir shows that feature content produced or filmed at Concordia are all available online.
