Jacques Lachance appointed director of Security

Responsibilities to include planning and oversight of university operations

Jacques Lachance has been named director of Security at Concordia. His appointment was announced by Roger Côté, vice-president of Services.

Responsible for the planning and oversight of operations, as well as the development and training requirements of security officers, Lachance implements the university’s security-related policies and procedures. He is also a member of the emergency response team.

Lachance served as interim director for the past four years; he has almost 40 years of experience in institutional and commercial security services, first aid, and emergency care. He was appointed to his new role on June 1.

Prior to joining Concordia in 2002, Lachance was responsible for the direction and supervision of security services at a variety of institutions, including École des hautes études commerciales and Université du Québec à Montréal. He also served as president of the subcommittee on health and security for Conférence des recteurs et des principaux des universités du Québec, president of the Montreal Military Institute, and vice-president of the Royal 22nd Regiment.

He is also an associate member of the Quebec Association of Police Directors, an ex-commissioner with St. John Ambulance Quebec, and served in the Canadian Forces as a brigadier-general for 31 years.
