Concordia’s websites: Your update

Find out the latest developments

On August 5, the university entered into a new digital era when it launched a streamlined, redesigned Concordia.ca and the first version of Cspace, a private website for the exclusive use of faculty and staff.

More than 900 helpful visitors responded with feedback. As a result, the focus turned this week to fixing the search function and broken links, plus directing visitors to new or relocated pages.

The new intranet and redesigned Concordia.ca are the result of the university’s web content management system (WCMS) project. In the coming year, it will migrate hundreds of administrative and academic sites into a new WCMS called Adobe CQ.

This is the first in a series of weekly updates on the project’s progress.

Search results

Some of the feedback focused on unreliable search results, which include the employee and department directories.

Improving the search functionality remains a top priority: it is expected that the search will yield smarter and more relevant results in the next few weeks.

Broken links

We received tremendous help from site visitors in identifying broken links via the site-wide feedback form.

While we are making progress and have rectified most of these, if you stumble on a broken link, please click on the feedback button and report it so it can be fixed promptly.

Can’t find something?

Our approach to navigation is now audience- and topic-based, as opposed to a reflection of the organizational structure (such as offices, departments and so on). Nevertheless, a list of offices and departments can be easily found in the A-Z index or the directory search for departments.

Other information has moved to Cspace because it’s internal. For example, much of the content related to HR, IT and finance are now found on Cspace under “Our services.”

Video tutorials to help you navigate Concordia.ca

Video tutorials about the new Concordia.ca provide information concerning the high-level changes applied to the site. In early September, video tutorials about Cspace will also be made available.

Questions? Suggestions? Feedback? Let us know by clicking on the feedback button in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Watch the news box on Cspace for weekly updates.
