5 awesome library services you didn’t know existed
Think you’re getting everything you need from Google? Think again.
From comfortable study spaces to on-call assistance, Concordia’s R. Howard Webster Library and Georges P. Vanier Library provide services specifically designed to meet your needs.
1. 24/7 study zones
Whether you crave a quiet place to study on your own or in a group, the Webster and Vanier libraries offer round-the-clock study spaces. Blue zones are designated silent areas; minimal conversation is allowed in orange zones.
2. Course reserves
From textbooks and course packs to CDs and class notes, course material in print and digital formats can be checked out for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. A great cost-saving feature for anyone on a tight budget.
3. Laptops and iPads
Keen to try out a tablet? Forgot your laptop at home? No problem: you can take out one of 260 laptops and 125 iPads for six hours to a week at a time.
4. Chat with a librarian
Enjoy the luxury of chatting with a librarian from the comfort of your own home — or couch, for that matter. You can also email, call and speak to a reference librarian in person, if you wish, or zone in on one of Concordia’s subject librarians who specialize in particular academic fields. They will happily answer your questions and guide your targeted research projects.
5. Skills workshops
Looking to improve your academic performance? From term-paper planning to reference sourcing, Research Skills Workshops ensure you consistently make the most of your library experience.
