iNow that the term has started and orientation activities are winding down, the academic year is hitting its stride. As you get down to business — going to class, and starting in on all those assignments — here are a few key deadlines to keep in mind.

Opting out of your student health plan
(Quebec and Canadian residents)

Undergraduate students (registered for more than three credits and paying tuition fees at either the Canadian or Quebec rates) are automatically covered by the CSU Health and Dental Plan, the cost of which is included in your tuition bill.

If you are covered by another private insurer, then you can opt out of this fee during and only during the set opt out period: The CSU Health and Dental Plan opt-out period ends Thursday, September 19, 2013.

Graduate students are automatically covered by the GSA Health Insurance Plan. If you already have coverage through your place of work, a spouse’s program, or your parents’ plan you can opt out of this coverage. The GSA Health Insurance Plan opt-out period ends Monday, September 23, 2013.

International students can contact the International Students Office for more information on their health insurance coverage while studying in Montreal.

Paying your tuition and fees

Payment of tuition and fees is due Monday, September 30, 2013, for both undergraduate and graduate students. You can confirm your balance owing on the MyConcordia portal under Student Account Services. This is where you can also find information on how to make a payment online.

Are you eligible for bursaries and awards?

In-Course Bursaries are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement at Concordia University, financial need, and applicants’ personal statements. Complete eligibility requirements are available on the MyConcordia portal. The application deadline is Sunday, October 6, 2013.

International Student Tuition Bursaries are available to full-time undergraduate students who pay international student tuition rates. The bursaries are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, financial need and the applicant's personal statement. Visit the International Student Tuition Bursary Program website for more information.

A comprehensive list of scholarships, bursaries and awards is available from the Financial Aid and Awards Office.

Applying for funding of a special project

The Concordia Council on Student Life (CCSL) makes funds available to support projects that enhance or contribute to the quality of student life at the university.

The fund is designed to support innovative and unique activities: events, projects or initiatives that raise awareness or engage the student  body in a social, political, educational or cultural context. Find out the details on the Dean of Students web page. The application deadline is October 11, 2013.
