The hallways and stairwells of Concordia's Communication Studies and Journalism (CJ) Building on the Loyola Campus are home to a collection of fascinating Montreal signage.
As more and more historical façades disappear behind new developments, the Montreal Signs Project serves as a colourful reminder of the city's cultural and commercial heritage. In this video, Communication Studies professor Matt Soar, who launched the project in collaboration with Archivist Emerita Nancy Marrelli, gives us a tour of the collection. He explains how each of the donated or rescued signs tells its own unique story.
