On May 1, Hospitality Concordia hosted its fifth annual MS Fundraiser Fiesta, an event that raises money for research on multiple sclerosis (MS), a condition that affects an estimated 100,000 Canadians.
The opportunity to party for a good cause is not one that Concordians tend to pass up, and more than 100 faculty and staff members came out in support of the effort.
Events like this one are open to students, but have a special focus on university employees. The day raised $636.85 for MS research, bringing the total amount the initiative has generated to $12,416.45.
The day was definitely a great success. But if you missed out, don’t worry — you can still donate.

Faculty and staff took in the festive sounds of Mariachi Oro Blanco de Montréal.
Mary Pigas from Enrolment Services was the lucky winner of the 50/50 draw. She took home $191.50.
The fundraiser ran smoothly thanks to the efforts of 16 volunteers from Hospitality Concordia, Facilities Management and the West Montreal Readaptation Centre.
The team of volunteers assisted with all aspects of the event — including, of course, serving their hungry friends and colleagues.
Chartwells, the event’s caterer, served up agua fresca, soft tortilla beef tacos, soft tortilla tempeh tacos, Mexican rice pilaf and, for dessert, Mexican churros with caramel topping.
This marked the fifth consecutive year the MS Fundraiser Fiesta has been held. Concordia staff and faculty have raised a total of $12,416.45 for multiple sclerosis since 2010.
