Connecting to Concordia systems via remote desktop? Read on!
Concordians who access the university’s systems remotely must now do so through a virtual private network (VPN).
This means that it is no longer possible to connect directly to Concordia’s systems via remote desktop. This includes remote access to computer systems via Windows and Apple Remote Desktop (RDP/ARD), VNC (Virtual Network Computing), RADMIN (Remote Administrator), Telnet and TFTP. Restrictions on the use of other software (e.g. SSH, FTP) are also being planned.
Users must first establish a VPN connection in order to use their usual software to connect to computer systems from off-campus.
Switching to a more secure connection method will help increase system security. As always, we rely on each user to follow standard security practices to ensure our systems and the data contained therein remain secure.
