Des investisseurs plus responsables
Financial professionals who want to be trained and certified in sustainable investing can now do so in French at the John Molson School of Business, through the Sustainable Investment Professional Certification (SIPC) program.
The SIPC provides sustainability training to investment professionals through an online learning platform.
The curriculum was designed by Concordia’s David O’Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise (DOCSE) in cooperation with Finance and Sustainability Initiative Montreal and is delivered by the John Molson Executive Centre. The program’s name in French is the Programme d’agrément professionnel en placements durables (PAPPD).
Sustainable investing is an approach that takes into account the long-term environmental and social impact of owning a particular security. According to the World Economic Forum, the shift toward this type of investing represents a significant change within the asset management industry.
Since the SIPC was launched in 2011, almost 200 students have enrolled in the program. The program secured CFA approved-provider program status from the CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals. This means that CFA Institute members who complete the SIPC program receive 20 continuing education (CE) credit hours.
“The SIPC exemplifies JMSB’s commitment to responsible business and I am very pleased to see that interest in the program continues to grow,” says JMSB Dean Steve Harvey. “We are proud to be the first business school to offer a professional designation of this kind, specifically geared toward investment professionals.”
