On November 24, André Roy, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science, recognized the lasting contributions of four members of Concordia’s staff and faculty during the annual Dean’s Awards ceremony.

“It has been the most successful year for nominations since the introduction of the Dean’s Award in 2006 and we hope to see even more next year,” said Jason Camlot, associate dean of Faculty Affairs and chair of the awards committee.

This year’s recipient for the Distinguished Award in the category of Exceptional Service to Faculty went to Henry Lemmetti, a technical supervisor in the Department of Communication Studies. Lemmetti has been working at the university for more than 35 years.

The Dean’s Awards for Distinguished Scholarship, which recognize “superior achievement in research by members of the Faculty of Arts and Science,” were awarded in two categories this year.

The Award for Distinguished Scholarship in the category of Junior Scholar went to Amy Swiffen, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Karen Li, a professor in the Department of Psychology, received the Distinguished Scholarship Award in the category of Mid-Career Scholar.

“Both Dr. Swiffen and Dr. Li’s research breaks ground in their respective fields, and it is a pleasure for me to present them with a distinguished award today,” Roy said.

The dean also recognized Superior Performance in Teaching by awarding Elena Benelli, senior lecturer, coordinator and supervisor of honours students enrolled in Italian, with the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
