Concordia renews its commitment to sustainability

Concordia University is about to start the evaluation process for recognition under the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System™ known as STARS.
An initiative of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), STARS is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities across North America to measure their sustainability performance.
Today, more than 340 institutions internationally have earned a rating or recognition in the STARS rating system.
Long-time contributor to STARS
In 2008-09, Concordia was among 66 pioneering higher education institutions in North America and one of only four in Canada who participated in the STARS project
As a returning participant in 2012, Concordia officially received a silver rating with the rating system. Concordia’s rating will now be re-evaluated using the latest version of STARS.
In addition to the university’s continued participation, Concordia also contributed to the improvements to the rating tool, specifically in terms of adapting it for Canadian institutions.
Over the next few months, the sustainability team of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will be reaching out to departments and student groups for this university-wide evaluation of sustainability. Your support and collaboration are integral to the university’s success in this rating.
