The Department of Education is relocating to make way for the expansion of the R. Howard Webster Library.

Currently housed on the fifth floor of the J.W. McConnell Building (LB), the department will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, to prepare for the weekend move. It will reopen the morning of Tuesday, June 16, at 9 a.m. in its new spaces in the Faubourg Ste-Catherine (FG) and the newly acquired Grey Nuns Annex (GA).

Once known as the Habitant Houses, the Annex was originally used to provide accommodation for the workers who built the Grey Nuns Motherhouse.

The Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP) and the Observation Nursery are moving to the GA Building, while the FG will house faculty, research and graduate offices, seminar and meeting rooms, and the department’s English as a Second Language (ESL) Program.

The Department of Education’s move is part of the Webster Library Transformation, which aims to turn it into a next-generation library by reshaping its physical spaces and learning environment.
