Day camp is open during the teachers’ strike
Activities in the Ped Day Program, geared toward children in grades 1 through 6, include sports like basketball, soccer and football, arts and crafts, and games that explore the importance of leadership and teamwork.
Concordia is now offering a day camp for children of students, faculty and staff on days that schools are closed because of provincial striking.
“We decided to expand our Ped Day Program to provide more options for parents on days when their kids can’t attend school,” says Krzysztof Kmiecik, coordinator with the Concordia Athletics Sports Camps.
The multisport program is held on the Loyola Campus and costs $25 per day. It runs from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., with free extended-care hours from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“We also do dynamic group activities in the morning to help break the ice,” says Kmiecik.
The Ped Day Program is currently based around the English Montreal School Board’s schedule. However, Kmiecik says that other school boards’ days off will be accommodated if there is enough of a demand.
