Blue Jeans: Concordia’s new, reliable video conference system
Are you worried about getting all the participants in one place for an upcoming meeting?
Why not host a video conference using Concordia’s new service? It’s easy to use, available free for academic requirements and can securely connect up to 25 participants at a time.
The award-winning Blue Jeans technology is supported by Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS).
On top of being reliable and easy to use, Blue Jeans can communicate with different technologies, including room-based systems, desktop computers and even portable devices such as iPads and Android tablets.
Since its implementation in the fall, this cloud-based video conference service has received very positive reviews from users on campus.
Until recently, video-conference systems at Concordia were underutilized because users felt they were challenging to operate and could only communicate with other similar technologies.
As a result, many people on campus were using programs such as Skype and Google Hangouts, which are free of charge, but often provide only adequate call quality at best.
Applicable fees (if any)
Requests supporting academic requirements are free of charge. Internal departments get a preferred rate to have an IITS technician on site.
External clients are charged for the equipment rental and the full rate for the technician. Read the IITS Equipment Loan and Rental Guide for more information.
How to make your request
There are two ways to request Concordia’s video conference service:
- If your event was booked using MyEvents and is managed by Hospitality Concordia, make the request through your event coordinator.
- If your event is NOT in a Hospitality Concordia-managed space, complete this form.
