New year, new look
Concordia is transforming two of its main communication tools for 2017, with a homepage redesign and a tailored NOW news bulletin.
Next-generation communication for a next-generation university
From the week of December 19 onwards, the Concordia.ca homepage will be electrified by a new, full-browser-width “hero” image.
It will highlight people, discoveries and activities that capture the essence of the university’s nine strategic directions.
“For the past two years, we’ve been talking about what it means to be a next-generation university,” says Sami Antaki, executive director of University Communications Services.
“We’ve defined the big-picture elements: agility, openness, currency and digital connectedness, for example. Now we want to take the next step and highlight the people and ideas that embody those elements every day.”
This public outreach effort extends to a dynamic next-generation landing page, print and poster materials, campus digital offerings, and the university’s annual recruitment and reputation enhancement campaigns.
But it all starts with Concordia.ca, since the homepage is a first point of contact for the vast majority of the university’s online visitors.
The new look is bold, inviting and easy to read. It also places an emphasis on recruitment by presenting prospective graduate, undergraduate, executive and continuing education students with a myriad of ways to engage with Concordia.
Your NOW bulletin: faster, smarter and made for mobile
Concordia’s revamped NOW newsletter — which officially launches January 9, 2017 — is visually, editorially and ideologically linked to the homepage design.
Tighter, more tailored and easier to access, this concise NOW “bulletin” will be sent twice weekly to faculty and staff (Monday/Wednesday), as well as once a week to graduate students (Tuesday) and undergraduates (Thursday).
Concordians can look forward to reading about the latest university research; awards and achievements of faculty, staff and students; institutional notices and announcements; reader- and community-generated news; analysis by university experts; and, in the case of students, advice directly from their peers and mentors.
With its simple, mobile-friendly format, the NOW bulletin aims to makes it easier for you to access the Concordia news you need to know.
Staff and faculty: Watch your inbox on Wednesday, December 14 for an exclusive first look at Concordia’s NOW news bulletin. The next-generation Concordia.ca homepage goes live the following week. Students: Your new graduate and undergraduate NOW bulletins launch January 10 and 12 respectively. Please send any feedback — and NOW story ideas — to now@concordia.ca!
