Follett Canada becomes the new Book Stop operator
Concordia University is moving forward with the new business model it announced in February for its Loyola and Sir George Williams bookstore locations. On June 1, 2020, it begins a new partnership with Follett Higher Education Group.
The decision to partner with Follett was based on its reputation as a best-in-class bookstore operator that leads in educational content, products and technologies.
The bookstores, also known as the Book Stop and Book Stop Boutique, offer an essential service to the Concordia community. With this new collaboration between Follett and Concordia, students and faculty will benefit from Follett's expansive inventory of affordable course material choices – specifically its robust digital platform.
Cost-saving print options include used books as well as Follett’s text rental program that saves students up to 80 percent compared to purchasing new titles. New store services include Follett’s popular price match program, which helps ensure students get their materials at the lowest cost possible, and their year-round buyback program, which allows students to sell back their used books. Follett will also facilitate access to open educational resources (OER) and offer courseware by Lumen Learning. Additionally, students will have access to a diverse selection of digital learning technologies that help promote anywhere/anytime access to the materials they need when they need them.
With the challenges associated with COVID-19, Concordia and Follett will try to minimize the impact of these unprecedented times for the entire campus community during the transition. For example, Follet will provide local and international shipping options for students studying remotely.
More details on how faculty and students can access the new digital platform will be communicated in the coming weeks.
The full breadth of the store’s products and services can be explored in-store September 1, 2020 (Covid restrictions will apply) and online starting June 1.
