Parking at Loyola is about to get easier

On Wednesday, December 7, Concordia’s Parking Services will be replacing the current parking meters on the Loyola Campus with updated equipment — with a sustainable twist.

“The new payment machines will be a modern, slicker, version of the current meters,” says Johanne DeCubellis, associate director of Business Services. “They will be solar-powered and paperless, making them an eco-friendlier version of our current system.”

Parking prices will remain the same: $6 for the day from Monday to Thursday, when entering before 3 p.m., and $4 when entering 3 p.m. or after; and $6 daily from Friday to Sunday.

However, there are a few important changes to note.

The new parking meters will no longer accept cash, parking stubs will no longer be required, and you’ll need to have your license plate number handy.

When you park, you simply need to pay at your nearest parking meter by debit, credit or mobile pay, insert your license-plate number, and then go about your day.

“The new system tracks parking payment by license plate so there is no longer a need to run back to your car to place a printed stub on your dashboard as proof of payment, which saves time and paper,” says DeCubellis.

If you still need a printed receipt for invoicing purposes — no worries. The system can print receipts for those who need them. Just select the option to print or email the receipt when paying.
