Concordia community members awarded Coronation Medals

More than 80 individuals received King Charles III Coronation Medals at a special presentation on Wednesday at Concordia. Among them was Helen Antoniou, chair of the university’s Board of Governors.
Coronation Medals are awarded to people who have made a significant contribution to their community, province, territory or country, or have achieved something outstanding abroad. Antoniou received the honour for her service to the community and tireless support for education.
Other university community members who received medals during the ceremony included:
- Jeff Bicher, current STRIVE committee member and former board member, for his service to the Jewish community, including students
- Gabriel Bran Lopez, BA 08, for his contribution in promoting perseverance, orientation, employability and civic engagement among youth
- Graham Carr, Concordia president and vice-chancellor, for his visionary leadership and inclusive commitment
- Julie Chu, head coach of the Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team, for leadership in sports and for championing the cause of the LGBTQ+ community in sports
- Kenneth Atsenhaienton Deer, LLD 15, for his service as a member of the Lieutenant Governor's First Peoples Medal Advisory Committee
- Nilab Ferooz, Beng 14, for leadership in the community and tireless support and advocacy for Afghan women refugees
- Rana Ghorayeb, BA 97, MEng 01, board member, for leadership at the intersection of business and the public sector, and inspiration and commitment to youth empowerment
- Daniel Héroux, Beng 08
- Caroline Ouellette, associate head coach of the Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team, and four-time Olympic gold medalist, for her contribution to the development of women's hockey
- Marcela Paredes, BA 23, for her perseverance, leadership and support for refugees
- Miriam Roland, LLD 18, for her devotion to supporting higher education and philanthropy
- Paul John Murdoch, board member, for leadership and support for members of the Indigenous community
- Paul André Savoie, BComm 89
- Alexander Sinora, for his visionary leadership in the Black community and particularly among Black entrepreneurs
- Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, member of the President's Advisory Group at Concordia
- Marion Thenault, student and Olympic skiing aerialist, for her commitment to her discipline and for being an inspiration to young athletes
- Lorne Trottier, DSc 18, for his entrepreneurship and philanthropic support for innovation
- Kanella Voudouris, MA 00, for her devotion to student success and youth development.
