Concordia graduate Kim Nguyen, BFA 97, is bringing the great white north to the south of France.

Nguyen’s fifth feature-length film, Two Lovers and a Bear (2016), will screen at the Cannes Film Festival’s Director’s Fortnight.
Shot partly in the minus 40 degree Celsius temperatures of Iqaluit, Nunavut, the film is about two lovers' troubled lives.
Featuring a hallmark somber mood, this isn’t the first of Nguyen’s films to garner international attention. War Witch (2012) was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards.
Two Lovers and a Bear
War Witch earned 10 Canadian Screen Awards and eight Gala du cinéma québécois (formerly Jutra) awards. The feature is about a 12-year-old child soldier in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Two Lovers and a Bear will bring Nguyen to Cannes for the first time in his career. The 69th edition of the week-long cinephile’s mecca runs until May 22.
The film's theatrical release in Quebec is slotted for the end of 2016.
