Lucky 7 for Concordia at 2024 CASE Best of District I Awards
Concordia University has earned seven Best of District I Awards for 2024 from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
District 1 represents institutions from across the northeastern United States and eastern Canada.
CASE awards recognize leadership in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing.
These District I awards, awarded to colleagues from Advancement and University Communications Services, follow Concordia’s recent silver win from CASE’s international Circle of Excellence Award.
Concordia’s seven newest awards recognize the following projects:
Developed for the NouLa Black Student Centre by University Communications Services, the Black Student Handbook promotes the centre as a space for Black students. It outlines resources and services available to students throughout their academic journeys and helps foster a sense of belonging within the Concordia community.
Bold new website for Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts
The Faculty of Fine Arts’ revamped digital platform marked a multi-year effort by University Communications Services. The redesign focused on displaying students’ work while enhancing navigation for prospective and current students and staff. Additionally, the site highlights Concordia’s Core Technical Centres — wood, metal and digital fabrication workshops.
Indigenous History Month campaign
Concordia’s Indigenous History Month campaign was a collaboration between the Office of Indigenous Directions, University Advancement and University Communications Services.
The campaign fostered pride and belonging among Indigenous students, staff and alumni through video interviews, social media outreach and a dedicated web page.
Bringing the city to life campaign
Bringing the city to life celebrated Concordia’s partnership with MU Montreal, which produces high-impact murals throughout the city. The campaign, led by Advancement in collaboration with MU, showcased Concordia alumni working with MU as muralists and art educators through video profiles, a web story and a feature in Concordia University Magazine as well as two sold-out walking tours of MU murals.
President’s Report 2023: Making a Difference in Our World
Concordia’s 2023 President’s Report, Making a Difference in Our World, which includes a Report on Giving, is a collaboration between University Communications Services and Advancement to showcase the university’s achievements and public outreach.
Concordia Golf Classic: 20 years of friendship and fun
The 20th Concordia Golf Classic set a record by bringing in $600,000. Since its inception, the event has raised $8.3 million to support student scholarships and bursaries. The Concordia Golf Classic was a collaboration between Advancement’s development, communications and events teams.
Kent Monkman and Gisèle Gordon in Conversation
CASE also recognized Concordia’s one-day event featuring Indigenous artist Kent Monkman in November 2023. A partnership between Advancement, Penguin Random House Canada and Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts, the event featured a full house for a lecture, drag performance and book reading.
“We take great pride that Concordia’s work is increasingly recognized by CASE,” says Paul Chesser, BA 94, GrDip 97, vice-president, Advancement. “Such acknowledgment is a testament to the hard work and creativity of our teams. My heartfelt congratulations to everyone who contributed to these achievements.”
Philippe Beauregard, chief communications officer, adds: “Concordia’s success at such international competitions allows us to benchmark our results against top American and Canadian universities. Our seven-prize haul demonstrates that our teams are delivering top-notch results. Bravo to all!”
