Updates to Tri-Agency Financial Administration Guides

NSERC, SSHR and CIHR have revised the Tri-Agency Financial Administration Guide effective October 1, 2017. Please check the link below to familiarize yourself with the changes to the guidelines:

A summary of the most significant changes appears below.

• Travel can now be booked at the “most economical rate” instead of the “lowest rate” (not to exceed full economic fare). For example, taking direct flights to save time, as opposed to a lower fare with three connections.


•  Gifts will be allowed when offered as incentives to research participants. Gifts must be approved by the Ethics Committee ahead of time.


• Extension period: List is updated to include Partnership Engage Grants and Knowledge Synthesis Grants (SSHRC).
