Stéphane Edmond

Professional, curious and inspiring are just some of the words most often used to describe Stéphane Edmond. A true teacher at heart, Stéphane is the kind of standout educator the world needs more of — one that’s ever attentive to the needs of his students while also remaining conscious of their diverse cultural and professional realities, creating just the right conditions for learning to take place by encouraging sharing and open communication.

It was during one such inter-university exchange that Stéphane first discovered Quebec, in 2008. It was love at first sight and he decided to move here and pursue his studies in order to teach French as a second language. Before moving to La belle province, he taught history in France for one year. Eager for knowledge and conscientious about wanting to offer his personal best to his students, Stéphane is pretty much insatiable when it comes to learning. Perhaps you’ve even bumped into him, at one of the numerous conferences or professional development seminars he attends on a constant basis.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the prestigious publishing house Clé International reached out to Stéphane to write the Guide pratique d’activités de préparation au TEFAQ. The guide, which is aimed at newcomers who need to take the Test d’Évaluation de Français pour l’Accès au Québec before obtaining their permanent residency or citizenship, will be available in early September 2019 at the Librairie Michel Fortin.

Always on the go juggling multiple projects simultaneously, Stéphane is currently developing a new French program for Concordia Continuing Education, in addition to teaching at various other Montreal institutions.

Is he a workaholic? Probably, but he seems to have found the secret for maintaining balance: capoeira. He credits the Brazilian martial art with giving him wings, which is why he decided to share the passion he considers a way of life by teaching it to kids and adults, in multiple locations. He uses the philosophy of personal growth and respect towards others in both his personal and professional lives, which is how he’s able to manage so many projects while remaining Zen and keeping the smile he’s perhaps best known for.
