Alberta 2024 T4A income tax information
Alberta Student Aid began issuing T4A’s to students for Alberta grants and scholarships on February 14. The forms will be available to students in their secure accounts as of February 18. Please note tax forms are only issued when the total amount exceeds $500.
Most students receive an email notifying them to login to their secure Alberta Student Aid account to view and print their T4As. Students who do not have a secure account will need a verified account before they can download their T4A form. Learn more about getting verified on the Student Aid Verified Accounts page at studentaid.alberta.ca. Students who need assistance verifying their Alberta.ca Account, can contact the Alberta.ca Account team, or call the Help Desk at 1-855-606-2096, Option 2.
Students will receive a print copy of the T4A form in the mail only when:
- they have received an Alberta scholarship or award that is not available online, or
- their account is set up for paper communications.
Students requiring T4As for federal grants must sign in to their secure NSLSC.ca account.
Students are generally not required to pay taxes on grant and scholarship funding they have received. Student loans are not considered income, and T4As are not issued for student loan funding.
Students who have questions about their T4As and filing taxes, should contact the Canada Revenue Agency.
Students who entered repayment status for their Alberta student loans in the 2024 tax year will receive a tax form directly from the Alberta Student Aid Service Centre for interest paid on their Alberta student loans.
