“His career spanning more than 20 years in the area of planning, development, culture and conservation and his participation in a variety of committees and boards distinguish him from all the other candidates,” said Baird.
Kristmanson served as technical director at the National Arts Centre from 1984 to 1994. He is a founding member of the New Brunswick Arts Board, which he left to join the NCC.
In addition to his PhD from Concordia, Kristmanson holds an MA from City University in London. He was the 2011 visiting research chair in public diplomacy at the University of Southern California.
The NCC administers federally owned land in the capital region, which includes Ottawa and Gatineau, and oversees public programming such as Canada Day and Winterlude
