Corina Paraschiv, BComm 09, was listed among the “Top 30 Under 30 in IT” in the June 7 issue of Quebec business magazine Les Affaires.

After graduating from Concordia’s John Molson School of Business, the 27-year-old Paraschiv now works as a client-facing lead analyst for CGI, an established, Montreal-based multinational IT and business-consulting company.

“To be recognized as a young professional by the professional community is a true honour and a great encouragement,” she says.

Paraschiv’s passion for the information technology industry is clear when she talks about her work.

“My job really accompanies a client from the very start to the very end of the project and that’s what I love most about it,” she says. “I get to be part of creating something from scratch.”

From the beginning, IT consultancy was the “perfect fit” for her personality and goals, Paraschiv says. “The breadth and scope of my work is great and complex, and the field itself is ever-evolving, which means I get to do what I love in a fast-paced environment, always learning something new and building on the previous experiences I have had.”

She feels that her time at Concordia really helped to give her direction and jumpstart her ambition. “Concordia has been a great catalyst in my career,” she says. “Like many other students, I got to partake in various clubs and extracurricular activities.”

Paraschiv studied abroad on a ship, participated in the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (ICBC) and even founded a club, the Rotaract Club of Montreal-Concordia, which focused on humanitarian aid.

“I was selected on the ICBC national business case team, where I was able to discover not only a passion, but a talent for strategy and consulting,” she says. “This helped me chose my career down the road.”

Through the years, her volunteer work has continued. Paraschiv now devotes time outside of her job to helping young people find their passion and pursue education.

She also hopes to soon give back to Concordia.

“A great dream of mine would be to one day teach at the university as a guest lecturer or part-time teacher, sharing my experience with the next generation of bright young leaders,” she says. “I know of no better way to profoundly impact society than to give back through education. Today’s students are our society’s future.”
