For Leisha Le Couvie, senior director of Alumni Relations, this year’s Homecoming is particularly special.
That’s because 2015 marks exactly 25 years since Concordia hosted its very first Homecoming celebrations in 1990 — an event that she herself helped organize — and established what would become a cherished yearly tradition at the university.
“There’s a place for everyone at Homecoming 2015, whether you graduated from Concordia, Loyola College or Sir George Williams University,” Le Couvie says.
Here are 14 different ways to celebrate Homecoming with us.
Celebrate big milestones
#Coms50th: Concordia’s Department of Communication Studies toasts its golden anniversary this year. The Communication Studies 50th anniversary festivities kick off on September 26 with a screening of Journey to Ithaca — a film directed by Nicolas Zavaglia, BA 77, chronicling the department’s early beginnings — and the grand unveiling of “Imprint,” an experimental, year-long exhibition for which the department’s 5,000 alumni are invited to submit their old film, sound and photographic student projects for display.
From notepads to iPads: The Department of Journalism celebrates 40 years of great journalism education at Homecoming this year. Drop by on September 26 to hear a keynote speech from Justin Kingsley, BA 96, as well as some great stories from J-school grads like CTV News Montreal reporter Maya Johnson, BA 06, and CBC News Montreal host Nancy Wood, BA 85, at the Alumni Presentation Series.
Stop by the John Molson School of Business as it rings in the 25th anniversary of its Master of Science programs on September 25. The full day of events includes a tour of the architecturally stunning John Molson Building, a buffet lunch and panel discussions with MSc alumni.
