Up for grabs is a loge package for the Montreal Canadiens vs. Tampa Bay Lightning game on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Montreal’s Bell Centre.
Valued at $11,000, it includes loge tickets for 12, two indoor parking spaces and open bar service. The winning bidder will also receive a bonus Stingers Rivalry Weekend Package to enjoy Stingers hockey games against McGill’s Redmen and Martlets.
All proceeds go towards bursaries for Concordia Stingers student athletes. Over the last two years, the charity auction has raised over $10,000.
“These types of new and less traditional fundraising initiatives will help us tremendously in building a sustainable donation base for the stability and development of our hockey programs,” says Patrick Boivin, Concordia’s director of Recreation and Athletics.
“Varsity programs need alumni and donor support to continue the good progress we’ve made in recent times.”
Past auction winner Greg Adelstein, GrDip 92, says, “I like to be involved with the university and support great causes.” He treated his key business clients and their spouses.
Bidders can also round up their friends and family and pool funds.
Award-naming opportunity
The winner will have the chance to name the bursary that their winning bid will create, for example, the ABC Company Bursary or Smith Family Bursary.
“It’s a great way to add visibility to your corporate or personal brand and recognize your contributions to the community,” says Gilbert Tordjman, executive director of Concordia’s Advancement Services.
The winner will also be invited to induct their bursary at the Donor and Student Award Celebration, an inspiring invitation-only gala held every spring.
The auction is organized by Concordia’s Advancement and Alumni Relations.
