Patrick Watson plays at Concordia
What used to be a mostly empty space in Concordia’s Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV) has completely changed with the addition of one item — a piano.
The Yamaha instrument was donated to Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts (FOFA) by the Evenko Foundation, which is affiliated with the entertainment company. Montreal singer-songwriter Patrick Watson was there to break in the instrument on March 13, 2017.

“We reinvented this space, the EV Junction, to include this instrument,” said Rebecca Duclos, FOFA's Dean. The space is on the second floor, facing Mackay St. “It’s meant to be conducive to spontaneous actions and ideas — music, performance and drawing.”
“We’re an urban university. To have a performing venue within that urban environment is going to be an important aspect for our students and professors,” said Josh Ragar, a professor at Concordia’s Department of Music.

Quebec television and radio personality Anne-Marie Withenshaw, BA 02, introduced Watson to the crowd of about 80 people.
“The Evenko Foundation promotes emerging talent and staying in school through performance arts,” said Withenshaw.
Watson played a four-song set that included “The Great Escape,” his best known song.
