On September 28, hundreds of Concordia faculty, staff and students will unite for the 29th annual Shuffle walkathon.
The 6.5-kilometre walk from Concordia’s Sir George Williams Campus to the Loyola Campus is about raising funds for scholarships and bursaries to help Concordia students. Yet every participant has their own reason to get involved.
We asked seven Shufflers what motivates them.

“I Shuffle because I work with students every day and I see firsthand how bursaries can make a difference in their lives. Shuffle bursaries can help students afford a bus pass, pay rent, buy books for the semester, a winter jacket and much more.”

“I’m Shuffling to raise funds for the Charles Gagnon Award in Communication Studies. My family and I set up the endowment in 2017 in memory of my late father, who taught communication arts at Loyola College from 1967 to 1974. I’m actually Shuffling for the first time this year because the Shufflers from my department I’ve sponsored over the years — Sheelah O’Neill and Henry Lemmetti — have now retired! Plus, the picnic at Loyola always looks fun.”

Shuffle scholarships help quite a few make their dreams come true.”

“I Shuffle because I graduated from the John Molson School of Business only two short years ago and I remember what’s it’s like to be a student on a budget. I was fortunate enough to have parents help pay for my school but I can’t imagine what it must be like to worry about good grades, social life, work, bills and tuition. Now that I work at the university, I want to help alleviate some of that stress by raising funds through the Shuffle!
